So my dad managed to water damage this nokia phone. It has been in non-working state for many weeks. Any way to fix this problem: It charges, but the red button next to the white button is always on and never turns on. Also the screen does not light up.

Electronics Water Damage if you can dismantle the phone this would be the best advice we can give.. cleaning the phone thoroughly of any water residue and remove any corrosion is the best solution. It may or may not work but if it does it will give the phone longevity that a rice dry will not. Pay more attention to the connectors/connections and all the motherboard chips. I would not submerge the display unit but a good clean of it's connector may help you.

follow pollytintop's advice and you can download the L1-2 service manual from here. It might help you getting it fixed:-)
I will try pollytintops advice once I get Torx T4 screwdriver.

If you can arrange T6 or T7 screw driver open the case of the phone carefully.if you are getting panic or afraid than please dont proceed.
materials you required are-
1.tooth brush
2.hair dryer
3.spirit/IPA & hair dryer.
4.T6 or T7 screw dryer.
open back case & remove battery,sim card & sd card.
remove all screws mostly 6 nos & keep them safely.
once you have done this try to remove lcd display,keypad carefully.
now take tooth brush & dip it IPA/spirit ans start cleaning pcb.(green colour board).
After 10-15 mins use hair dryer on board in three turns & dont heat up the pcb only warm.
wait for the 30 mins & turn on the phone.
it will work for sure

Update: after rice treatment the phone does tot have the red light problem.
