Why can't I adjust the bevel angle on my new Craftsman circular saw

I have a new Craftsman 71/4 inch 15 amp circular saw (EMS510) and I can’t move the bevel lever. The manual also references a bevel adjustment knob , which isn’t labeled on the saw pictured in the manual. How do I get the lever to move to adjust the angle?
