New battery stopped charging after 4 cycles

I start this redundant question with answers to FAQ in regards to this issue.

Replaced original battery due to bad information regarding WiFi issue. WiFi connection was turned off so I’m an idiot.

Replaced original with Ifixit battery.

Previous posts asked to reinstall old battery to check if internal connections are working. Recycled old battery at work program. Its gone.

New battery worked great than stopped charging

Took new battery out. Did the power on 5/10 second …. didnt work

Took battery out did Shift/Control/Option/Power 10/15 seconds,,,didnt work

Did same with battery in,power adapter attached….didnt work

Checked power adapter on another laptop….it worked

Power adapter has continuous green light

How do i tell if its the new battery?

How do I tell if its something deeper?

How do I admit to my wife that she is correct that my career as a DIY computer repair is, after the umpteenth attempt, going nowhere and that i just need to get with the times and purchase a new one.

From what you have show us in your snapshots it appears the charger is not being seen at all! We need to walk the pathway from the MAgSage charger plug into the system and then the pathway internally.

Review this Apple T/N Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters make sure the cord and the MagSafe connector are in good shape if not you’ll need a new unit. While the charger worked on another system its possible the connection is loose so it sometimes works.

Next we need to make sure the MagSafe connection on the system is good. You may need a new unit look at the guide for the needed part MacBook Pro 17" Unibody MagSafe DC-In Board Replacement I’ve often see the plastic plate warped so the pins don’t make contact to the MagSafe charger pins as well as blackened contacts which just won’t pass the power.

If you have a DVM you can check the voltage at the logic board.

Let us know what you discover!

Sorry for the delay. i went and bought a multimeter today. to be honest it will take me a moment to figure it out. electricity is not in my wheelhouse.

is there a tutorial on where to check on the logic board?

I watched the you tube videos and have come to the conclusion checking voltage on a logic board is not for a rookie . From too big of a probe causing a short circuit, multiple points to check, voltage, ohms etc. silly me I thought it was as easy as checking to see if the brake lights had power on my 59 vw. I ordered the part and will just replace it. I will let you know. Thank you

@lynk729 - Knowing ones limits is good thing!

You have a 1959 VW Bug?

When I was growing up my uncle bought a 1960 with a sun roof to have at his vacation house in Maine. Great memories!
