Are you sure you selected the correct model here? The new 2019 16" model does not offer DVI the older Late 2008 and older models did.

Yes, it’s 15” MacBook Pro from 2006, model A1211, it only has display image from DVI-I port connected external display.

I need to know if its a common problem from video processor or is any thing else, I ask because it only have video from DVI-I port, I believe if it was video processor problem, it won't send any signal or video...??? (Just guessing)

Can you help with it....??

It this common problem of video processor??

Sorry this post it is not for 2019 sorry, mistake, sorry.

Best wishes to you all

● 2008 ~ Early 2009 systems max-out with Lion 10.7.5

● The very last two Mid-2009 (EMC 2300) systems are able to run El Capitan 10.11.x.

First this is a very old system! I had one which I loved until it died. This series uses CCFL (Color Corrected Florescent Lamps) MacBook Pro 15" Core 2 Duo Model A1211 Display Assembly Replacement. These tiny lamps are no longer being made and finding replacements is extremely hard. In addition the Inverters tend to wear-out which are also hard to find that still have any life left in them (pig in a poke) MacBook Pro 15" Core 2 Duo Model A1211 Display Inverter Replacement.

It does appear you have a workable solution presently using the external display.

Maybe its time to shed a tear as you move on to a newer system. You don’t need to get the very newest model. I’m going to assuming you have a lot of older OS-X apps running under Lion (OS-X 10.7.5) and stuff that won’t work on the newer macOS Sierra (10.12.x). So finding one of the last OS-X systems like El Capitan (OS-X 10.11.x) would be one possibility. Even still you really don’t want to do anything on the internet as the older OS-X versions which don’t have support any more have security issues! Anything on your system is at risk.

If you don’t have anything overly important then getting a newer model that runs the latest macOS would be a good investment. As an example a 2012 13” MacBook Pro Unibody.

Thank you for your support, yes i know is very old, what do like to know is:

It Is common reflow chip fix...? Or by having video from DVI-I, it is not chip video problem (reflow fix)?

Best wishes to you Dan.

No its not the GPU if you can see the desktop and your apps using the external monitor.

Your system uses an ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 GPU which does not have the bad NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT GPU which I suspect you where thinking.

Even still this is a fragile system! The display frame tends to crack over time as well.

Your issue is the internal display failing (CCFL as well as the inverter)
