My Computer gets VERY HOT during spring and summer. It like 100 degrees f.

Hot as the sun. Do you have a good way of taking it to a laptop professional?

My computer is a level Flex 5-1470 (Type 81C9) Laptop (Lenovo). I also have 33 apps on my computer. I can hear the fans blow as hard as they can too.

Well please help me. Is there any software that will kill all unnecessary background processes!

Hi @computertechy ,

100F is not too hot for the laptop.

i5 CPUs average operating temps are 120 -140F.

The fact that the fan is on high speed indicates that the CPU may be getting hot due to high demand on the it or that the fan may not be extracting the heat efficiently due to dust build up etc

Things to look at and try:

a). Open Task Manager, (right click on the Taskbar and select Task Manager) and select the StartUp tab to view what programs are loaded on Startup of the laptop.

Review if they are necessary or not (search online using the program name to see what they do to make sure) and if not right click on the particular program and select disable and see if that makes a difference.

Also check the Task manager > processes tab and click on CPU to see which programs are using the CPU the most etc.

Be careful as a lot of programs are necessary to the proper operation of the laptop. If you are unsure, leave them alone.

b). Check in Event Viewer, (right click on Windows Start button on the left side of the taskbar, click on Event Viewer link) and check for any Critical, Error or Warning events that show up regularly that may be causing problems in the laptop.

c). Start the laptop in safe mode with networking and check that the temp/ fan etc are OK or not. Be aware that the screen will look different. That is because only generic Windows drivers will be loaded and not drivers specific to the hardware. If it works OK then you have a driver problem.

d.) Run a system file check to make sure all the Windows files are OK.

e). Check that the fan exhaust vent is clear and unobstructed. If is appears to be OK it may be that the fan itself may be a bit clogged with dust and therefore it is not extracting the heat quick enough.

Here’s a link to the hardware maintenance manual for the laptop. Scroll to p.41 ti view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the fan
