Fix lines on the LCD with another donor LCD
Hello,
I have the following problem with my two of my iMacs: their screens aren't working properly.
1. iMac 27” late 2012 cracked display glas, dust in the screen, some slight ghosting
2. iMac 27” late 2012 glas is fine but the screen shows vertical and horizontal lines, the bottom half isn’t working properly
Apart from the display assemblies the iMacs are working fine. So my idea/goal is to take parts from one of the assemblies and transfer it to the other assembly.
I am willing to do some soldering or some mechanical work on the lcds, but I have no knowledge whatsoever about LCD driver boards. I am skilled in mac board level repair in a basic manner, and I have a good tactile sense.
Where shall I start? Is there a chance of fixing one of those panels?
My first idea was to transfer the lcd driver board form the cracked panel to the one showing lines. I have no idea if it’s even possible to separate the driverboard from the lcd itself, nor if it would fix the lines.
The panel with the lines hasn’t been dropped or anything it just started showing the lines one day.
Hopefully you can give me a hint for my project, where to start or whether it is realistic to get it fixed.
Best regards
