My TV keeps boot-looping

Hi, I wonder if anyone could help please? I have a Philips Android TV - pus6501/12 49” and it keeps boot-looping, as in when I first turn it on, the Philips logo shows up, followed by the Android logo and then it will keep returning to the start, very frustrating as there does not seem to be anything I can do at the moment.

Every now and again, sometimes after a couple of hours of letting it do it thing, it will come back on and be ok for a few hours or until it has been off all night and turned back on in the morning, then starts all over again.

I have reset it to factory settings and checked for any updates, all to no avail. I would really appreciate any help with this as I am stuck now.

kind regards

Graham Nash.

I have posted one picture but do I need to take the casing off the back of the tv?

Thank you.

nasherg …. to troubleshoot this, youll want to have a multimeter and the ability to operate it. youll want to start with the power supply. id start with testing the connector that runs to your mainboard. there should be a legend that that indicates the voltages that should be present. they may be +/- a volt or two , but should be steady and not jumping around. measure these and if they are good, measure the connector to the main board and make sure it receiving those at a steady rate as well. next, do the same for the connector to the leds. post back with your findings for further assistance.

Hi jostewcrew, many thanks for your replies, it is greatly appreciated.

I have got a multimeter but at the moment, I have the tv back on and do not want to disturb it for tonight. The next time it goes off, probably tomorrow morning, I will look at taking it off it’s bracket and follow your instructions.

The only thing I am thinking is, if it is a problem with the power supply, would it be intermittent like it is at the moment?

Thanks again for your time.

Graham.

nasherg .....at this time, it could be anything. to troubleshoot, it is necessary to rule out what its not. i believe the intermittent power cycling is a faulty component that is getting hot at certain times and causing the set to shut down. to be honest, it is easier to troubleshoot a dead set than an intermittent issue. whenever youre ready, post back and we can check some things.

Thank you jostewcrew,

Ok, so I have the tv off the wall bracket and on the floor now and plugged in to a socket outlet on its own, as another thing I read was that the power needs to be coming from it’s own socket and not an extension lead, or could be part of the problem .

It seemed fine when I first plugged it in, came straight on to the status of no signal. Unfortunately after a while and for no apparent reason, it’s started re-booting again .

Regarding testing the power supply, I have taken off the service panel on the back of the tv but am not too sure what to test, you mentioned the legend but I cannot see that, there is the main power connector and the ambilight connector, which I have unplugged both but they seem fine as connectors.

Do I have to remove the whole back of the tv casing?

Many thanks

Graham.

please start by posting some good pictures of your boards, or finding a link to them online for hd view. this way i can zoom in and see what is what.

nasherg ... need to have access to the boards. take the entire back cover off. when you have access to the boards, locate the board that the main connection from the wall outlet connects to. that board will have a number on it. post this here.
