Tablet shows "charging" symbol but won't charge

I plugged in my tablet, and the “starting charge” symbol appeared on the screen. However, it never left this screen; even after using 3 different micro USB cables and even after attempting to charge it for 3 days. The screen just remains on in this exact state, and the only way to turn the screen off is by unplugging the cable; where it shuts off immediately from a lack of power. Because the screen stays on, I think this is draining the battery faster than it can charge. Does anybody know what I can do to fix this?
