Is it possible to repair power socket

My sons DS lite wont charge. The power socket is missing the black plastic part and I guess thats problem. Do I need to replace the Power Board. Found an excellent manual for replacing the Power Board for a Nintendo DSi. Can I use this manual or are there major differences with DS lite.

Here are great instructions for changing the power connector on your DS Lite. Plenty of pics, even so it is not quite the same connector. the connector is available at place like this Hope this helps. Good Luck
