Can pinching the LCD ribbon cable ruin entire screen assembly?

I bought a new LCD digitizer screen and installed it and it worked fine. But the home button did not. So I opened it back up and fixed home button. In doing this I pinched the ribbon cable. It did not tear, rip, stretch or get damaged in any visible way except when it was pinched. And now the screen won't work. Backlight is on phone will charge iTunes etc. Just a blank screen. My old screen works fine if I put that one in. But the new not so much. The only thing I can think of or see wrong was when it got pinched. Please any info or ideas would be appretiated.

I suppose that it is possible if the wires got separated (fractured) on the inside. Especially since your old screen works....

Hey Reed, sorry to hear about your screen.

Unfortunately, yes. Ribbon cables are very, very easy to damage. Even though there is no visible damage, the wiring on the inside could have been messed up. Check to make sure that you have connected everything else properly, but since the backlight and dock connector work fine, you will probably need to purchase and install a new LCD ribbon cable.

Hope this helps; good luck!
