Want this iMac to boot

Hi,

I’ve got a iMac 2011 27” iMac I’m trying to bring back to life,

what happens it will turn on and chime and after about 10 seconds the fans go to full speed and there is no screen image at all. The leds shown are 1,2 and 3.

im more use to pc’s but So struggle to work out what’s wrong especially when the fans go to full speed in the pc world that would point to a cpu issue.

Hi,

This is the connector on the motherboard

Also this is the connector on the lcd panel and looks a bit knackered

I’ve tried connecting to a external monitor but nothing happens but not sure if the lead I have is any good. The ubs port have power (just plunged a rgb mouse in and it lite up), just some guides where saying if you have no power on the usb port the motherboard is bust. Although if that’s all that is wrong then its cheapest option for replacement parts on ebay.

Sorry forgot the other 2 photos

I’m suspecting the displays logic board connector is damaged. Take a set of pictures so we can see the connector looking directly into it, from the front and from the side. Post them here for us to see Aggiungere immagini ad una domanda

You do have some damage which is repairable. The detent tabs are bent so the cable won’t stay secured. Being careful not to snap them press them down

If I plugged in an external monitor should it get to the boot screen? Or is it a case all 4 lights should show before it will boot correctly?

da

The 4th LED will not light without the internal display plugged in and working. At this point it won't be as that cable is not viable! You may still have junk in the socket and the pins of the socket could be damaged and lastly the internal displays video driver logic could be damaged as well.

The eternal display should light up when you plug it in. As far an image thats tricky! Different versions of OS-X/macOS did things a bit differently.
