Charge port pads torn from board

Hi,

I've got myself a switch here that I just purchased as faulty. Was described as charge port being good but opened it up and someones been in here and done a poor attempt at removing the charge port and they've just pulled it off the board, looks like a couple pads missing. Not sure about the inner connections yet but does anyone know if this kinda problem is salvageable?

Believe the charge IC is gone too which is the actual issue and not the charge port which makes this all the more annoying.

I imagine if the inside pads are good I can maybr solder a bit of wire then attach the new charge port pads to the wire and hopefully it all makes a connection. This does take partial power and sent 5v to some capacitors .

I have attached some photos of the damage and hopefully this can be salvageable as it’s an unpatched switch I’d really like to get working for personal use.

WOW, well that looks bad. If you can find the schematics for this then you will be able to fix it no problem but first you should see if the device even works. You will have to manually give it power via the correct pins and see if it charges etc and you can buy an old board off eBay and try to track down traces. But when you look at it, you have to ask yourself if its worth the time or maybe can be a challenge you want to take on. As for me, I would try to get another working board off eBay .

Yeah I need to take the chargeport off and see the damage on the underside of the pins and then decide from there. As a project it could be fun as i'm new to soldering and pcb repair.

I don't think buying a new board is too viable but I may look into another broken switch as a whole due to it being cost effective and then see from there.
