@ooolong turn the subtitles on. It does have the english subtitles and those are pretty accurate in the translation.

All you could do is transplant a working 5k display from LG or other maker into the case. You can’t use a iMac 5k display as you will still need the driver logic and the interface logic.

Not sure if it’s worth the effort. Between the trying to figure out how to fit the display and needing to design and make the mounting hardware (3D printer?)

I’m hoping Apple rolls out a lower cost display for the rest of us! The XDR is a fantastic display for video work when you need the color reference it offers but its just too expensive for most everyone else!

Thanks, agreed on the XDR but with a $5,000 price tag is bit much for a normal Apple user? eBay sell 5k LCD panel around $400 + and I do have an A1419 27 inch iMac case ? with the drive and power board add on? Is this possible?

@ooolong - Sorry that won't work ;-{

You would need to buy a real external 5k monitor (a full working unit) and transplant the guts into the case.

@ooolong - Good find!

I haven't seen any driver boards that support 5k via a Thunderbolt cable and the two mDP cable solution runs at a slower refresh rate.

As for offering a guide, sounds like you are going to do this so how about documenting your process and help us all creating a guide! Here's the process https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/new
