Soldering skills for changing the HDMI port on a Xbox One S?

So only last week I developed a knack to fix stuff. I ordered the 64 piece ifixitkit which is extremely good quality, high recommended for those who are choosing between it and cheap Chinese sets like I was.

My lil cousins have been yanking at their xbox one S wires and the HDMI port has stopped working.

So I understand the whole job but I have never soldered in my life. I get the basic premise of it but still find it daunting to do. Could someone tell me how to begin to practice learning it? Do people just get 1-2 wafers, some components and start practicing on there?

Estela Villafuerte  yes that is exactly what you want to do. You will need to “learn” how to solder and desolder components off circuit boards. It is not extremely difficult but needs to be practised. Check some online videos like this as well as guides like this one and see what you think. Ultimately, no matter how many videos etc. you watch, you need to practice. Get a few boards and start soldering to develop your own technique.

It's more of an intermediate/advanced repair with the One. You need to properly mask off the HDMI IC and surrounding board and have a hot air reflow station. It may be easy, but that's only if you're comfortable around SMD parts.

It comes off as a practice on junk and check your skillset job. It's above most DIYers experience from what I've seen on how to do it. Not trying to scare the OP - just providing a major heads up. PRACTICE ON DEAD/CONSOLE BAN S BOARDS.
