Reboots if trackpad connected?

I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015). The symptom is that when the machine attempts to boot into a bootable drive (either internally or externally connected) it will get about a third of the way through the progress bar under the Apple logo and then the system will power off and reboot. I have determined that if I disconnect the trackpad flex cable from the main logic board the symptom no longer occurs. I tried a separate known-good trackpad flex cable and the issue still happens. I tried a completely new trackpad with a known-good trackpad flex cable and the issue still happens. I’ve even swapped the logic board with a logic board ordered from iFixit and the issue still occurs with new trackpad, new trackpad flex cable, and new logic board installed. If I disconnect the trackpad flex cable from the logic board, the issue goes away. What’s going on here? How can the issue still be occurring with these components replaced? Thanks for any help you can offer!
