MacBook Still Won't Charge After Multiple Fixes

Hi all,

I have a early 2015 Macbook Pro 13in.

It started randomly not wanting to charge.

I went ahead and tried all the software fixes first.

Rebooting, resetting SMC etc.

I then replaced the charger with two different ones. Same thing, won’t charge.

So I ordered a iFixIt DC/Magsafe 2 replacement part. Still won’t charge.

I go into coconut battery and my battery health is good, 345 cycle counts.

What are my next steps?

Has your battery been replaced?

da

Can you do a second snapshot with the charger plugged in when the battery is about half discharged.

da

@danj Charger was plugged in. It doesn't detect the charger.

da

@scottycee Original battery. I just replaced the DC/Magsafe.

Battery seems to be in great condition and from the info looks like it’s still the original one, that points to a logic board failure. If you’re up for it, you can try measure battery pins voltages with battery disconnected with a multimeter and post back your findings for evaluation. Other than that you can try finding a reputable lab into Macs component level repairs, although it won’t be a cheap fix.

So basically the motherboard failed?

da

@Noah Pollack Without a little testing we can't be sure beyond any doubt, but I'd say yes from the behavior alone.

da

@arbaman Dang :( Well thankfully I pulled my data off just now. It's at 30% battery now. Probably just going to save for a new one.

da

@arbaman Also note everything works on the macbook perfectly. It's only the fact that it is not charging.

da

@Noah Pollack No need to look for a new one in my opinion, a repair or a board replacement, in the worst case, would just cost a fraction.

Sounds like you have a blown fuse!

Take your logic board out and check the fuse

If I were to bring this to a repair shop what is the cost/process? I'm almost leaning towards saving for a new macbook pro.

da

After verifying that the fuse was the only issue I would charge 130 USD

da

If F7005 was blown there would be no power anywhere except from battery and Mac wouldn't even turn on.

da

If the battery its self was fully discharged then you would be correct as both sources (AC or Batt) would not be able to supply power.

So far the battery is still offering power!! "Well, thankfully I pulled my data off just now. It's at 30% battery now" Which pointed to the fuse had failed.

da

@danj If the fuse failed wouldn't it completely cut power between the logic board and battery? Laptop still functions perfectly, just wont dectect the charger/charge.
