Irregular colorful display & crashing issues
Dell laptop - display & crashing issues
I have a Dell XPS L502x which I now use mainly as a desktop replacement and connect it via hdmi to an external monitor. While working I will usually get an irregular colorful display on my monitor (as seen on the photos attached), sometimes it only lasts for 2-3 seconds and then I can get back to work and sometimes the laptop freezes and I have to reboot it.
Can anyone help identify if this is a hardware issue? If so what kind?

Difficult to imagine what kind of fault would cause this but it would be worth eliminating the cable and the monitor itself by trying different ones.
