I would strongly recommend you take the system back and buy the SSD model straight up. Trust me its the smarter choice!

If you can’t then you’ve giving up access to the faster PCIe/NVMe blade interface the SSD or Fusion Drive models have. I would go with a 512 GB model as its the ideal size when you match it up with a better HDD than what Apple installs like a Seagate SSHD drive.

Independent dual drive configs are better than Fusion Drive’s

OK, can’t return it then you only have one option in swapping out your HDD for a SSD. Do keep in mind you’ve loose your warranty service doing this and if you’ve never opened one of this iMac’s there is a good chance you could damage something in the process (people often damage the display). So in the end you don’t save anything!

i can’t take it back.. so what do you think i should do ? because i’m using the adobe suite with and for the moment i really can’t work.

should i try to sell it and buy another one ?

what is the « PCIe/NVMe » i saw this everywhere but i don’t understand what is it.

Did you try? Talk to the store manager. They give you 30 days to return. In this case you're asked for a different model so it shouldn't be that hard. Otherwise you'll lose some of your money selling it your self. Here's your systems series iMac19,2 click on your exact system and looking at the storage section, you'll see depending on which model you get you may end up starting off with a handicap!

"This model has a SATA III (6 Gb/s) connector for a 2.5" hard drive or SSD. If the system is configured with an SSD or a "Fusion Drive" at the time of initial purchase, it also has a dedicated PCIe connection. If it was not configured with an SSD or a "Fusion Drive" initially, the applicable PCIe connector is not present and it is not possible to install a second drive later."

i think i can’t because as i thank i would keep it i just put in the bin the packaging so i think they can’t accept it..

sorry for my english but if i understand, as my model is the HDD, without any ssd storage, i can’t put an ssd hard drive because i don’t have the right connector ?

so what would be the best solution for you ?

OK, I think I understand... you tossed the packaging away so you can't return it now. But before you throw in the towel give it a try any ways. They might surprise you ;-} What country are you from?

Try to sell it and get the blade SSD model if you can. You can upgrade the HDD to a SSD but its a bit of work and if you haven't done one you run the risk of damaging the display.

i will try this weekend because i can’t have it before.. i’m from france and on the website they say that i have 14days to return it..

even if i follow the instructions of your tutorial you think it mights be risky?
