Discs not inserting into PS3 after changing the drive

I have a PS3 40GB CECHJ02 model which I believe were made for Europe and where I am in Australia.

It wasn’t reading any discs so replaced the blu ray drive from another console. I also kept the same board thing on it (not sure exactly what it’s called but it keeps the drive married to the mother board)

But not I can’t put a disc in. It makes a noise still but the disc doesn’t go in. Tried pushing it in a little but that’s all it does, pushes further. So I didn’t try pushing it in all the way.

Could I have possibly done something wrong??? There was a ribbon which I was struggling to remember which side it went in and might have ruined that??? Could I have no aligned it right maybe???

Can you check the ribbon for any obvious damage? You should also search online for a picture or video of the process to ensure that you put it in the right direction.

I just took it all apart again and re did it. Now it works! The ribbon had no damage and I had put it in the right way. MAY have not clipped it in properly? I made sure it was after clipping it back in I noticed it wasn't in right.
