Doesnt turn on. Fan makes weird noice

I have a MacBook Air 13” early 2015 that doesn’t want to turn on. By that i mean absolutely nothing is happening when you push the “On” button. The fan doesn’t start spinning, it doesn’t even show sign of trying to move. But every time i push the “on” button you can hear small beep noise from the fan. Sounds like it’s trying to start but fails instantly.

I have already checked the battery, charging port and charger and found nothing wrong. I’ve also checked the cable going from the charging board to the main board and that also looked fine.

My guess is that this is board related, but i am not so experienced with that and i,m looking for pointers for where i should start looking.

Thanks in advance!

Let's try this, disconnect the charger and battery. Press the power button for a good minute to discharge the system, now with the battery still disconnected plug in the MagSafe charger. Does the system spontaneously start? If not, what is the color of the MagSafe?

Thank you for your answer @danj.

I tried it just now and nothing happened. I tried several times to.

The first time there was no light at all. The second time there was no light, then it turned green before almost immediately turned red/orange. The third time there was no light, then it turned red before slowly fading away.

I Finally managed to fix this!

I took the logic board out and put it in a heating oven for 1 hour on 175 degrees celsius.

After the board cooled of and i managed to put it back together everything works. :D

At this point your logic board likely has a problem within the power logic.

A common issue I encounter is damage caused by a fake charger. Different MacBook series encounter different areas damaged as Apple has improved some areas over the years which then pushes the weak point to a different area in the logic.

Are you able to dig into the schematics and have the needed tools and part to fix the logic board or is replacing it the easier solution? Sostituzione scheda madre MacBook Air 13" inizio 2015 I would recommend following Louis Rossmann’s YouTube channel as he has some great vids that get into the process he goes through to diagnose and repair logic boards.

I Suspected as much. I have all the tools and equipment i need to diagnose and hopefully repair the logic board, but like i mentioned earlier i lack experience.

Do you think it would be enough to replace the board the charging connects to? Or do i have to start looking at the logic board?

Maybe you know where i can get the schematic for this model?

There are sites like vinafix that offer schematics and board views for sale. I've needed to buy quite a few over the years. Some are even out in the open. They often disappear as Apple is quite aggressive searching and forcing there removal - Please help push the Right to Repair

You might want to spend some time watching of Louis Rossmann's Youtube vids on how he diagnoses and repairs logic boards

Thank you very much @danj!

Don't worry we are huge fans of Right to Repair. Just waiting for something to happen with it here in Europe.

I think i got it from here. Will watch Luis and see what i can find out.
