When I turn on my New 3ds XL (with CFW) blue light appears and fades

One day a few weeks ago, I turned on my New 3DS XL, and the blue light appeared, then faded to black. I’ve tried removing the battery, removing the SD Card, and removing the Game Card. I’ve also backed up and reformatted the microsd card, and nothing worked. Eventually I figured out that squeezing the sides hard made it boot like normal, but it turned off after around a minute. Now if I try to do that, it shows the custom splash, then says:

An error has occurred:

Unable to mount CTRNAND or load the CTRNAND FIRM

Please use an external one.

Press any button to shutdown.

Please help, all I wanted to do was play Pokémon Alpha Sapphire.

Did you try Googling (or whatever) the error message? Might turn up some recommendation. Also if you used physical manipulation (banging, squeezing, shaking etc) the unit, that may be something is misaligned or come loose in the unit if intermittently the unit shows signs of life. Sometimes cursing in a very loud voice will lead to positive results too but rarely does that happen. lol If the unit isn't under warranty, you might want to open the unit and do a visual inspection for anything that looks out of place such as loose or broken wires, dirty or loose connectors, or damaged electronic components.

I’ve tried googling it, but none of the scenarios people have been in were exactly like mine is. None of their solutions worked either

Hi Griffin S,

Looks like your 3DS has been bricked.

Please check the following website: https://gbatemp.net/threads/3ds-unbrick-...

Perhaps it helps!
