Screen turn off after few minutes after switched ON - Water Damage

Hi,

accidentally my phone was dropped into water. I take it within seconds and put it in rice!. After 24hours i turn on the device, everything works fine but the screen goes off after few minutes of use. but after every force restart, the display works for few minutes then goes black. can anyone tell me a fix. I bought a display combo. but iam not sure the problem is the display?

Check out the following thread:

My phone redmi note 6 pro was dead because of water. So what I do?

Will also add that using rice is not a recommended repair procedure and may in fact cause further damage to affected units needing repair.

rice doesn't help any. these devices are tightly enclosed spaces, rice can only soak moisture it can come into contact with. your best bet is to perform a liquid recovery process to clean any damage/corrosion off the board and device components, and then test to see if the device is still having issues, and go from there.

that said a repair shop that can perform liquid recovery services would be highly recommended in these cases. while you can clean the board in general with some 99% isopropyl alcohol and say a toothbrush, you won’t be able to get into the super tight spaces between and under the chipsets. a repair shop that offers liquid recovery would likely have an ultrasonic machine, and hopefully the proper cleaner, to perform a thorough board cleaning.

also to note, with water damage it’s always up in the air, and devices can degrade further depending on how bad the damage has gotten after cleaning the corrosion. uncommon, but possible.

as far as screen goes it doesn’t sound like an issue with your screen, but you never know
