When I turn on my DS the power light comes on a clicking noise occurs and the Power light goes off the screens stay black what could be the problem

Specifications don't mention any HD being installed. PWM (switching power ) supplies will also produce a clicking sound as the power initially comes up but then due to some kind of fault in the supply, the protection circuitry will attempt shut the supply down. The supply will then attempt to come up again only to encounter the fault and the protection circuitry will again kick in; repeat.

Use a multimeter to check for correct battery voltage, secure battery connectors etc. Try running the unit while powered by the AC adaptor with battery removed. Not familiar with the unit in question, so am not sure if the unit will power up with the battery removed but it's worth a try. If things check out on the battery end, then it would probably be time to crack open the unit for a visual damage inspection (bulging caps, burn marks, exploded components etc.
