Boot Loop after attempted GPU fix
After 7 years of service my A1342 stopped working. The machine powered on with fan spin and plays the apple chime. I slowly ruled out all other problems, like backlight and inverter and found that the GPU had let go when an external monitor gave no output.
I disassembled the laptop and held a heat gun over the GPU at about 150 degrees c for 5 minutes. This appeared to work as the surface of the GPU has some scoring on it that disappeared after the procedure.
Now after powering the machine the boot chime repeats constantly and after a few times, it gets choppy with no screen output. The activity light is solid throughout this time.
I’ve been looking all over for a fix for this and have had no luck finding one.
Someone help me please, thanks.
