Playstation button won't work, but randomly presses itself

I’ve had bad luck with both DS3 and DS4 controllers in the past, but nothing quite like this. I hadn’t played my PS4 in about 3 weeks, but earlier today I decided to fire it up and play some stuff. However my controller won’t turn on, since it won’t recognize the Playstation button being pressed. What’s more weird, is while I’m doing other things, my controller will randomly turn on and power up my PS4. However, pressing the Playstation button still gives no response after it turns on.

I opened it up to check the thin contact sheet to see if something was in the way. It looked fine, but I rubbed it down with a Qtip and some iso. alcohol to be sure. Still have the same issue however. When plugging the controller into my computer, it recognizes all button presses, except the Playstation button.

This is leading me to believe there is some sort of short (I’m no electrician so that might not be the proper term), or something is fooling around with the contacts leading to the motherboard that is causing these issues. What should I do? I could replace the contact sheet, but is there something easier that can be done that might work? Also, if I go about removing the contact sheet and cleaning it off entirely, what is the best method for cleaning it? Is iso. alcohol suggested?
