Mac Pro Early 2008 DSMOS has arrived, screen flickers orange
Hi there! My early 2008 Mac Pro, running OS X Snow Leopard, started having graphical glitches and imminent freezing randomly. A few days later it began to refuse to boot. It reaches the Apple logo with a spinning gear below it, although the gear freezes and the screen flickers orange every few seconds. I tried resetting the PRAM and SMC to no avail. I then attempted to perform a safe boot, only to have the same issue after the progress bar disappeared. I then performed a safe-verbose boot, images of the results attached. It seems to hang and flicker once it reaches “DSMOS has arrived", although reading the lines above I'm sure those are linked to my issue. I'd be eternally grateful to whoever helps me out.
Having had the Mac for so long, I do not remember the exact specifications. I'm quite sure I had an Octa-core with about 8 gigabytes of RAM. The GPU is an NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT, although the original 8800 GT shipped with the Mac failed once before and was replaced.
Sorry for my limited knowledge of Macs and Linux, I've been fixing my Windows PCs with ease but haven't really messed about with a Mac before. Note that it's been some time since the issue occured, I've been using my year-old Ryzen 7 build just fine but I'd love to get my Mac up and running.
EDIT: forgot to mention that running an fsck -fy in single user mode printed that the volume appears to be OK. It also printed that the file system was modified.
EDIT 2: Just to clarify, I do not need help in installing Mac OS X. That was already done a long time ago, and the last time I upgraded was from 10.5 to 10.6, back in 2009. What I do need help in is booting up the Mac, as it fails to boot and has the same issue in both safe and normal mode.
Questa è una buona domanda?

FYI: DSMOS stands for Don't Steal Mac OS

That's quite confusing, considering the fact that all I did was update from 10.5 to 10.6. That was, I'm pretty sure, years before this issue began. Haven't done much to my Mac OS since then.
