My Maytag Bravos washer will only spin and drain cold water. When I do a load in hot water it stops before the spin cycle and won’t drain and give me a LF code. Any help will be appreciated. Washer is only a year old. I’ve checked all the hoses and there’s no clogs.

Jason Wilson, I just thought if something. Most newer washers only use cold water to rinse in. They don’t even have a selection for a hot water rinse. The washer is rinsing in only cold water because that’s how it is designed. I apologize for not thinking of this sooner.

Jason Wilson, Error code LF is low fill. Your hot water isn’t flowing into the washer fast enough. It has to fill within a certain amount of time or it will go to the Error code. Easy fix. Unplug washer. Turn off hot water. Remove the hot water hose at the washer leaving the other end attached to your house plumbing. Hold the hose in a bucket and turn the water on, open the valve all the way. Fill up several buckets. Clean the screens inside the inlet valve on the washer. You should see the screens where the hose attaches to the washer. Pull them out with little screwdriver or pliers. Rinse them than put back in. Hand tighten the hose back on then use players to secure with a good turn. Turn water on. Plug washer in to outlet and turn in washer. If it’s still filling too slow and you get an error LF you’ll need to replace the water inlet valve.

Jason Wilson, when you remove the hose from washer only loosen with pliers than remove it the rest of the way by hand. To put it back on, hand tighten it and only use pliers to snug it down. The valve has plastic threads and can be easily stripped. You don’t want to strip them. If it hose doesn’t go on even it will be hard to turn. Don’t force it. Back it out and try again.

Well I did all of that and still don’t work. Only works with cold water. So I guess the next step is to replace the water valve. Thanks for the info.

Jason, that’s what it sounds like to me. Hot water carries more sediment with it than cold. This sediment will get in the valve diaphragm and can cause the valve to stay shut or stuck open. It’s never fun to come home to a flooded home. Buy a new valve.

Check to see if the hot water valve is fully open. There is a screen in the valve that can get filled with sediment.

It’s fully open and water is getting into the washer. It just won’t spin or drain when using hot water.

Yes you we’re dead on! I wondered why you want my help when you had it. I’ve done the same many times. Sometimes we tend to over think it. Sometimes the easy fixes are just too easy, so we complicate it. LoL. I had a dryer not starting call last week. I checked every component. I was fixing to go nuts, everything tested good. I was there a hour, dryer completely apart and by accident found the timer knob cracked. It couldn’t turn the shaft although it was on timed dry the shaft was on off. Ugh. LoL

Take care my friend!
