My MacBook Pro fell on the floor, now its stuck on white screen

Hello everyone,

Sadly my Macbook slipped out of my bag and fell onto the floor really bad. There are not a whole lot of damage done to the Macbook “shell“ itself (only a little bulck that i need to adjust), however when i try to boot it up i hear the Mac starting sound, and then the Macbook screen just stays white… I tried hooking the mac up to a monitor with HDMI but the monitor does not catch any signal (as in maybe the mac dosent get fully booted up?)

I tried launching it in Safety mode, and this does not work either. What do you guys think the problem is?

EDIT: I sent the Macbook to a diagnosis, and they said the repair cost would be close to 1600 USD…. which is alot more than what the macbook itself is worth, so im hoping that i can fix this issue my self.

You can find a screen more cheaper original maybe grade “B” (Online Stores) for $400.00 + iFixIt Repair Kit.

Another solution is using a external screen, the key here is that you have to disconnect the internal flex cable of the screen, so the motherboard does not detect the internal screen and will send the image to the external screen (I did it so many times for Data Recovery).

It sounds as if the display, the most fragile part of the device, was broken and will need to be replaced. Displays are not cheap unless you can find another Macbook of the same model with a differnt problem and a good display.

Hi thanks for your reply, but why do you think its the display? when i have already tried to connect it to the hdmi and nothing shows, and also it dosent seem to do anything after the start up sound.

Probability.

A typical laptop display consists of an always-on backlight and a logic-switched film that lets light pass per cell. That backlight is what makes the logo on some Apple laptop covers glow. The film isn't blocking it. The backlight draws most of the power of the display and has the heaviest conductors.

Most likely, the laptop does a test during startup (POST) to determine whether the display switching is working properly and is failing to allow the unit to finish booting. (If the backlight had failed the POST would have most likely completed and an external display would work.)

Of the things that could cause a white screen freeze, the display is the most fragile. The 2nd cause would be a bad connection to the display, 3rd is damaged video chipset, 4th a virus.
