MacBook Pro 13 2015 no wifi, keyboard nor trackpad working

Hello Everyone,

I’m a long time follower of this amazing web site. I work in IT and sometimes I like to repair (mostly replacements) when mac’s gone wrong.

Right now I have a MacBook Pro 13” Early 2015 that doesn’t recognize WiFi card, and also keyboard and trackpad don’t work. Only power button works from keyboard.

I bough a new AirPort card and a keyboard/trackpad flex after finding other people successfully made them work after replacing that flex, but in my case they all continue without working. I also reset the SMC/PRAM thing.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Update (02/25/2020)

Ok, I changed the I\O cable but still no wifi, keyboard and mouse. @dan

I've been working this laptop all this time with an external keyboard/mouse and a USB ethernet adapter, but now I want to give it a second try to repair it, would you guys get a logic board or the I\O board instead? whats the safest route?

I would first try reseating the I/O board cable and then I would replace it MacBook Pro 13" Retina (Late 2013-Early 2015) I/O Board Data Cable Also inspect the I/O board for any corrosion or staining. If the USB lines from the I/O board are messed up they will effect your keyboard, Trackpad and Bluetooth.

Thanks @danj , it makes sense if the IO board cable is faulty wifi/BT card wont work, but when I plug any usb device belonging to same IO board they work. Is that possible?

Ah! Yes this doesn't seem likely does it ... Plug in a USB power meter like this one USB Mini Voltmeter into your USB ports I think you'll find the system is not offering out power to the port. This is the issue at hand, a bad connection or power logic. When you plug in a powered USB device it will work as the data lines are still working.

I plugged an external HDD powered by USB and it worked good. Do you still think I should get that cable? I opened the mac and no corrsion or anything unusual on the IO board

Well I guess if the I/O cable doesn't work then you need a new I/O board or logic board. Ouch!

I would place the bet still, lets just replace the cable hoping it fixes things as its the cheaper direction.

Alright, I'll let you know, thanks for your help

Same computer. Same problem. Brand new Trackpad cable. Made sure it was seated properly. However, when I returned the bottom panel, it pressed on the excess trackpad cable. The pressure was enough for it to kink near the connection to the board and sever the connection. Make sure to put the metal plate on top of the trackpad cable where it connects to the Logicboard. You’ll also want to use the adhesive on the bottom of the trackpad cable to adhere it to the battery preventing it from lifting and getting pushed by the bottom panel when reattached.

I hope that helps.
