How to reattach Connectors 1, 2?

How to reattach Connectors 1, 2?

I recently purchased a new front panel assembly because my digitiser had cracked and I've nearly completed the repair but I'm finding it impossible to reattach connector 2. I've checked the part I ordered and it's definitely a 3GS part so I'm stumped as to why the connector doesn't seem to want to attach. Does anyone have any tips as to how to reattach it?

And if anyone has any tips on connector 1 that would be great too because it's a similar system to 2 and I'm not looking forward to trying to reattach it.

I'd be suspicious..if you can't get the connector to attach then it's likely the wrong part. the problem is that connector 1 is for the lcd and if you try turning it on when it's the wrong part you may end up with no backlight (as I did!) if you try to connect no.1 and it doesn't fit dont turn the phone on! return the item and request they send another 3gs assembly to you.
