“Battery 0% charging” issue after a clean Windows 10 install

After clean Win 10 installs batteries now show “0% charging” - but they never charge.

Both have “Battery 0% charging” issue after a clean Windows 10 install; Asus GL752VW-DH74 -and- Toshiba Satellite L15W-B1320

I think the clean install messed with something the Laptops need to charge the batteries - but there's always some "trick-fix". Both laptops’ batteries worked before the clean Win-10 install.

Lots of troubleshooting. Reloaded all computer specific drivers from manufacture sites. Already uninstall/reinstalled battery driver in Device Manager. Replaced power supplies, reseated plugs on the motherboard. BTW - I'm a retired PC tech.

(Some say to leave the battery unplugged from the mainboard - then Uninstall battery driver in Device Manager. Restart it 4-5 times. Re-plug battery, then re-install the ACPI control driver - haven't tried yet ... seems more of a ni-cad fix than a lithium fix.)

I don't know how to test a discharged battery - it was working perfect before the clean Win-10 install. Diagnosis says it's still fine - it reads 0% charging - so it's recognized.

The Asus now doesn't recognize it's SSD, only the 1TB drive after Win-10 clean install. I don't care, but could that have caused a battery issue? Grasping here . . .

On the Toshiba I replaced; 1)power-jack 2)battery 3)mainboard 4)another battery (plenty of switching power-supplies). Nothing fixed it - so grandkid uses it plugged in only.

Thank you, Nancy Nelson

PS

I've contacted MS concerning clean Win-10 installs - they say, "This issue has not been reported "across the board", therefore it is an issue for the computer's manufacturer".

Seems like a Win-10 issue to me!

If the same issue occurred on two computers, perhaps the Windows 10 boot device you used to perform the clean installs may be to blame. It may help to download a different Windows 10 ISO file to a different storage device and retry the clean installs.
