My screen will display a battery sign and won't turn on. I fell asleep with it and in the morning it was like this. Any help is appreciated

Try doing a hard reset with it plugged into the charger. You can do this by holding power + volume down + home for about 15 seconds then hold the power button to turn it on again and see if it starts charging the tablet.

:-) -- HARD RESET helped get the tablet out of its non-op mode, but then looped thru two factory startup screens and a black screen continuously. However, after leaving the tablet to charge for a while, I did a HARD RESTART (holding down Power and Home keys at the same time for about 10 seconds). The tablet was fixed! Thank you to all who contributed to this section.

It works for someone, it's the force factory reset of Samsung tablet, or you can force restart it can also fix Samsung tablet won’t turn on. Or when all free tips can’t fix it, try Eelphone Android System Repair to fix it by connecting Samsung tablet to the repair tool, with the guide from the tool, it’s easy.

yeah yknow plug it into a charger. BTW this is 100 percent true. Once you plug it in you wait until it hits 1 percent. Conduct a soft or hard charge and then it WILL TURN ON.

I also had this problem with 2 of my SM-T580 Tablets, I would get the battery image and it wouldnt charge, so I thought the battery had died. I was using a quick Charge Charger , could that have been the problem?
I found an old Samsung Charger and plugged it in, and it is now charging, weird, right? I havent plugged the other dead tablet in to see if it works also
