hi my macbook is in perfectly good condition, except when i use the trackpad button, the curser always drags, but the button doesnt stick down, and when i use a mouse and disable the trackpad it doesnt happen, so its definitely a hardware issue. is this a common problem? if so, what is the common solution?

Hopefully you have a swollen battery pressing on the trackpad. Remove the battery, start up and see if the problem persists. Examine the bottom of the trackpad for damage. If all else fails you'll have to replace the top case.

sorry, but ive already tried this, its not a swollen battery :(
