Microphone Muffled and Speaker Low after replacing charging port.

I used a heat blower to open my iPhone 6s because it was never opened before. The adhesive loosen up and allowed me to open it up. Changed the charging port with no problem. But then the microphone got muffed and speaker head went really low.

Any suggestions?

You may have a defective replacement part or you could have installed it incorrectly. If you still have the original, you could install that one again to see if you have the same problems or not. While you’re doing this, check to insure there is nothing clogging the holes for the microphone and speaker.

My concern is that you used heat to open up the phone. If you applied too much heat, you may have melted some plastic parts near the microphone and speaker and that could be the issue.

Hey Thanks for giving me back any feedback.

Moving forward, do you think I should get the heat bag from ifixit? Would that be less damaging on any other phone I end up fixing?

Heat guns work fine but it's hard to gauge how much heat is delivered. With experience, it can be a very fast technique. For one time or occasional use, then a heat bag is more controllable as the maximum temperature is more consistent. I started with a Magic Bag (for aches and pains) which had more surface coverage than the iOpener (and you get to use it on a tired body at times).
