How still clean a sticky space bar after a small vinegar spill?

Greetings, I have a 2017 MacBook Pro with touchbar. I am typically very careful to avoid these things but today I accidentally spilled a little bit (probably less than 1/4 tsp) of balsamic vinegar on my keyboard. While I was quick to act and managed to clean the majority of it that spilled just on top of the keys (without going underneath the crevices), some did manage to go underneath my spacebar and probably the B key. Right now I have no issues with the keyboard itself or anything suggesting damage, but currently the two keys mentioned are a bit sticky and particularly with the touchbar, you can literally smell the vinegar stuck underneath. I would like to get whatever is left underneath the keys before it causes more serious damage. Advice for cleaning the butterfly keys?

@malloryg - With the system shut down, just carefully wipe the keys with a pair towel which is slightly damp with distilled water to clean the vinegar off. Don’t try lifting the keys as they are very fragile! And you don’t want the let the wetness to enter into the system so don’t over do the water.

So why use distilled water Vs tap?

Depending on where you live the water could have high concentrations of minerals and salts which over time will damage your system besides the sugars and acids in your vinegar. Distilled water doesn’t have anything in it other than pure water (H2O) so when it evaporates it won’t leave anything behind. That is after you’ve mopped up the vinegar.

Here is the Tip

Take small water in a cup dip tissue paper and clean (Make sure that tissue paper is not dipping any water drops on keyboard) Keep few extra tissue paper handy in case water dips use it to dry…do all this when the Mac is Turned OFF.

Use distilled water not tap water for this!

Don't try lifting the keys as you'll only break them. Apple has an extended warranty program for your keyboard. After cleaning the worse of it visit an Apple Store if they are still sticking letting them fixing it.

Will any liquid Spill will covered? Like if i spill Vinegar or Beer will they accept in warranty? Infact i think they will make an entry on your serial number that you have spilled a liquid and will not let u claim warranty in future for KEYBOARD..

Please Replay me On this...

Quantity matters! As well as how thick the fluid is, real Balsamic Vinegar is more syrupy so if Mallory caught most of it, it wouldn't have traveled far and it was very little as well. If you had a full Beer Steins that would be a much bigger mess!

Then there's over volunteering too much info ;-}

I wouldn't tell them here as none of the indicators would have fired off so it would be your own admission that would do you in.

Quantity matters ? Lets say u take ur Mac @ apple Store and say 2 Drop of water was spilled in the keyboard ...(Just 2 Drop) Will take accept the under warranty ?

OK, here's a question for you how many ghosts can sit upon a pin? I think you've driven this beyond reason ;-}

A few drops of water from an eye dropper won't set off the markers mounted on the logic board from the keyboard and would likely evaporate before doing any real damage. So how would they know it got wet?

The simple fact is if they see corrosion or the markers have turned then they will likely dismiss warranty coverage.
