Microphone appears muffled and quiet

Hello all.

My P20 Pro has a problem since being repaired. My microphones appear to be muffled, and do not pick up sound well. They seem quiet but also extra sensitive to physical contact with the phone itself. Would this potentially be the result of dust build up? And is there a simple way to hopefully remove any blockages? Cheers.

Sorry that you’re having issues, here are the steps I would take:

  1. Use a voice recording app to really check if the microphone is either blocked or not working properly.
  2. Check the small holes at the bottom of the device next to the charge port for any pocket lint or dust.
  3. If you know for sure it’s a constant issue and there is no dust/pocket lint, you’ll most likely need to open the device.
  4. After disassembly which can be found here: Smontaggio Huawei P20 Pro, you’ll need to replace the daughter board, because the microphone sits on that board. The part where he starts working with the daughter board starts at step 13.

Hello Tyler. Thanks for the quick response.

Unfortunately none of the above methods without tearing it apart worked. I also tried a factory reset with no luck.

As this issue occurred after I had the phone repaired I am going to send it back to hopefully get it sorted.

Did the issue get resolved because im experiencing the same thing. Took my phone in for a screen replacement and it seems the microphone has since been malfunctioning and also sensitive to physical contact

I had my screen replaced and the microphone is not working despite 4 attempts by the phone dude to fix. It would be cheaper to get a new phone but ain't nobody got time for that. Anyone??
