How to fix a dent on the back of the screen, in the middle?

Block Image

The dent is right below the apple logo. Can it be fixed and how much would it cost approximately? There is no Apple store in my Country

The only way to remove a dent from the lid is to remove the retina panel from the assembly and gently hammer the dent out, but..

- removing a retina screen without breaking it is extremely difficult and unless one has done it many, many times before, chances it breaks in the process are very, very high

- small signs on the paint will be there even after levelling out the dent, thus consider if the aesthetic improvement is worth hundreds of dollars work to you. Hard to tell if anyone can remove all the backlight sheets without damaging them and without getting some dust trapped in between..I replaced a few screens but never tried replacing the sheets and even if I’m very careful and avoid windy days, yet it’s not easy ...

Best and safest way to get rid of the dent would be to replace the whole screen assembly..many hundreds dollars cost!

Keeping the dent and sending to Apple a note asking them to use their brain in thinking about better engineering and most effective parts replacements for the future would sound like the best solution to me :)

@palak_mistry_ That confirms my previous answer, but it would have been the same with any other kind of damage on the lid. Problem is that the design of the screens is deliberately preventing any repairability.

Call it engineering choice or pure greed, but that is it, alu+glass+adhesive+plastic sheets+electronic components in a tightly glued extremely expensive sandwich. Unfortunately until we buy them and WWF joines Apple in "help protect life on our planet" campaigns, we won't get out of it.

@arbaman -

Maybe Apple will support the WWF fund with animal Apple Watches ;-}
