Does not recognize power supply and new battery is dead

I upgraded the SSD in my 13” Macbook Pro Retina 10,2. After replacing the SSD, the system was fine for a few weeks. Then it started to got to sleep overnight, but would wake up when pressing the power key. I tried several power adapters and even ordered a new Apple power adapter. I replaced the battery since the original battery seemed “swollen” and the case clips would not engage. I have now replaced the battery, but the Mac Book won’t boot. It shows the red battery icon and the not plugged in symbol.

No lights are on at the MagSafe2 plug and I have tried again multiple power adapters.

My initial power adapter was a 3rd party adapter which would light up the amber light, sometimes even when not connected, so that adapter is now in the trash. I’m wondering if this adapter damaged either the DC In board or the logic board.

Any suggestions on troubleshooting or next steps given the Macbook won’t power on?

thanks!

In the end I replaced the Logic Board and the IO board. The effort to replace just the IO board was the same as replacing both, so rather than remove the logic board twice, I just replaced them both. After that, the power adapter is now recognized. My disk does not seem to be bootable anymore, so dealing with that next.

Thanks!

You’ll need to work up the food chain.

I would start off inspecting the MagSafe 2 connector for any signs of damage or burn Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters. You’ll also need to check the circuitry on the DC-In Board (MagSafe 2 connector) for any damage MacBook Pro 13" Retina (Mid 2012-Early 2013) MagSafe 2 DC-In Board following this guide MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Late 2012 MagSafe DC-In Board Replacement.

You may need to disconnect the battery allowing the systems spontaneously boot from the MagSafe After holding the power button down.

Make sure you are using a real Apple MagSafe charger and if you can install CoconutBattery so you can check the battery.
