My 2012 MacBook Pro "Core i7" 2.3 15" Retina (A1398) has a dead battery, dead GPU and a heavily distorted screen. ++++In short, the machine is in a coma.
On the other hand, my "Core i5" 2.5 13" Mid-2012 (A1278) is unused and still brand new.
Can I use the parts like SSD, Ram etc. from the ‘dead’ retina machine, to upgrade the non-retina MBP?

The Retinas are totally different animals. I know of no parts that are interchangeable. To even get the data off the Retina you would need and external Envoy enclosure, such as made by OWC

I agree with @mayer here.
The only thing salvageable is the SSD using the OWC case otherwise nothing else.
