Why is my ring chime not connecting to my WiFi?

We have set up the Ring video doorbell and now have the ring chime to go with it. We have followed all instructions and looked up forums online but still unable to get the chime to connect. It finds our WiFi and the blue light pulses, as soon as it says they are connecting the blue light speeds up searching for networks and says set up has failed! I've reset the chime, reset the router, checked internet connection and not sure what I can do now! Please help?!

Thanks in advance

I had this issue setting mine up. The only thing that helped was putting the chime in the hallway plug as close to where the door unit is. It seems not to be able to pick up doorbell/camera very far. Mine had to be literally 5-6 feet. Hope this helps.

A HUGE thank you. Freakin' Ring is wrong about placing it closer to the router. You need to place it CLOSER TO THE DOORBELL.

I used an extension cord and hung the chime from the doorknob next to the doorbell. FINALLY finished the set up after a dozen tries using both my iphone and ipad pro.

Check the RSSI value for your chime. In the app click on your device then device health. If it’s value is over -60 then try plugging your device closer the wireless router.

RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indication) is a measurement of wireless signal strength, ranging from 0 (perfect) to -99 (very weak). When the Ring app shows you an RSSI value, it indicates the strength of the Wi-Fi signal your Ring product receives from your router.

Wi-Fi signals get weaker with distance, and further interference can be introduced when they pass through obstructions (such as walls), or from other electronic devices.

Plug the chime in an outlet within 10-15 feet from the wireless router. If that solves the issue then it’s too far from the wireless network.

@mandy.tookey The other guy had the correct answer. Plug in the Chime close to the DOORBELL, not the router. Use and extension cord if you have to.

It failed to complete the setup a dozen times with it 1 foot from the router.

I am having almost the same problem, except my chime was working for several months then stopped connecting to the wi-fi. I have gone through the set-up process several times, including having the app forget device. Apparently it does not completely forget the device, because each time it will ask if I want to use the same wi-fi network as before. I even bought a new chine and installed it. The new one works fine in the old location, the app also asked if I wanted to use the same network for the new Chime. I have another doorbell on a different network, but that one has never had a chime installed, same app instance. Anyone have any new ideas.
