Siri not working properly iPhone 5

Hi all

I have changed many many screens over the past years but this ones got me in relation to siri not working correctly, ok iphone 5 screen replacement (easy) however upon checking all is working (cameras, touchscreen response, mics etc ) siri dose not want to play ball, as soon as I fit the screen in place siri stops picking up voice, but if I lift the front of the screen partially away from the back casing at about 30 degrees angle or more it picks up voice again, I have replaced the ribbon cable in relation to front mic/camera ribbon with several others and restored and updated but still the same, has anyone got some idea as to what is causing this unusual issue.

Try checking the connector on the logic board with some magnification and a good light source, it might be some pin got damaged and out of place one way or the other. You can gently verify with tweezer all pins are anchored to the board correctly. If you already replaced various flat cable assemblies the problem is quite likely somewhere on the board.

Rather weird as after some messing with trying to fault find I discovered that if I unscrew and remove the screens back plate/shield siri starts working again??

Ouch, that sounds like a "long screw damage", it happens when shield screws get mixed up as they have a very similar lenght and the longer one is tightened where the shorter one should go. Since there are some traces running under the screw holder they might get pressure damaged. As it seems the issue comes out just when setting the shield in place I'd suggest to avoid to use the screen at all to avoid possible permanent damages, unless the iphone suffers a brutal drop connectors should stay in place even without the shield.

Its not the shield that covers the screen FPC connectors on the board, its the backing plate that screws to the back of the screens frame, thats why it seems a bit weird.

@burnsclan I'm a bit at a loss here, screen backplate pushing on the connectors ? Have you tried replacing the screen ? there must be something out of place on either side..screen or board one way or the other..
