samsung recovery solution update not available

Hey guys,

I have a Samsung N550P7C and it came (by default) with original WIN7 and all drivers installed in a partition on HDD (without any CD or DVD) - FYI it was bought in a Samsung store all original and legal with box and invoice.

Its quite a nice machine but unfortunately everything got wrong after an update of Samsung Recovery Solution/Software Tools was ‘unsuccessful’.

I don’t remember the correct error sentence but it was something like ‘it was not possible to update’ something in the software or app that is monitored by Samsung recovery solution, and with this also means, all drivers or within Samsung Software tools. (I just got the popup message but I assumed it was a connection problem and later on the system would retry and accomplish it as expected).

So… after boot I got the black screen of death with moving cursor…

I have tried almost everything I have read online, including the following:

  • recovery solution (basic restore option - without format) - no different result
  • start in safe mode - the same black screen with cursor
  • restore backup point - not available (there is not presented any restore point but I guess its blocked by Samsung recovery app)
  • basically all options on startup+F8 - after booting always black screen with cursor
  • crtl+alt+del does not work either - no action or any window is presented
  • tried to reinstall a new windows on top of it using an USB or DVD original WIN7 cd (from another device I have) - both don’t go more than 0% in progress (I guess its blocked by Samsung recovery app)
  • run cmd with recovery commands for boot as well permissions - no different result
  • scan disk to check errors in HDD - no results found
  • My last resort was to install WIN in another (third) partition of the HDD - it accepted without problems, I can access data, perform tests, read files, and there are no errors in any partition of HDD or an presence of virus.

One of the most common options could be simply perform a format and install everything back again but:

  • first there is the problem of the original Windows is in the HDD.
  • Second, I have a bunch of paid software that I will lose if I have to reinstall all again.
  • Third, I followed some news on the web where is mentioned that Samsung is not producing laptops anymore and will not give support to equipment and software.
  • All of these lines mean that it can happen the same again in the future for a new installation (or in Samsung recovery solution - a complete restore).

Presenting to you guys this panorama, and sharing with you my suspicion that all of this is caused by Samsung Recovery solution/software tools….

? - Are you able to help by giving some insights how to recover from this error?

? - If there is any way possible to boot from third partition and upload into WIN7 from the 2nd partition a correct boot folder?

? - Is there any repro-step how to recover from this error without losing any data?

Please help! I really need it! Thank you in advance (at least for reading)
