Installed New Battery now meter says 100% but then dies around 95%

I got a new battery for my phone from ifixit and installed it. When I turned it on the phone said it was at full battery. I left it charging on a wall socket all night then left for work. When the battery fell to about 95% It would die. Plug it in and it will go back to 100% but then die again at 95%. I restored and updated (4.3.3) but the problem still exists. Is there a way to reset the battery memory? I really dont want to put the old (worn out) battery back in.

UPDATE:

I'd hate to return it. I already returned one because it didn't work. Does it ever work? I feel like I may have messed up my old battery taking it out. It is all bent now (not punctured).

Also, it seems to turn on after it turns off at the same battery percentage. for example it just turned off at 92% but then it turned back on with out plugging it in and it was still at 92%. Should I try to get it to 0% then charge?

UPDATE 2:

I took it all apart again and put it back together at well as I could. I tightened all screws as much as I could. After this the phone seemed like it would work. It worked for about 12 hours and now it will turn off pretty frequently (even if plugged in). It will turn back on after it goes off but sometimes it takes multiple tries. Should I return the battery?

the 3gs and replacement batteries is an ongoing saga...they don't like "oem" and just when you think you've sorted out which batch works and which cause these problems it turns up again. I'd suggest though that you check you've tightened the 2 screws over the battery and that the connector 4 is on properly. a visual inspection doesn't always cut it..take the board out and redo it.. if same problem then send it back.

There is a good possibility you received a defective battery. You're probably going to have to pull it anyway. There isnt anyway to "reset" the battery from what I understand.

take a look at the 7 digit no. on the batteries... are they the same? also look at the way the flex is shaped with the metal "stripes" they should look the same. if they don't it won't be compatible. go to an online site (I suggest ebay just for ease) and look for a battery with the same 7 digit no. and buy that.. also contact the sales team here, if they don't know there's a problem with that batch it will still be being sold. as you aren't the only one reporting this problem with the battery it can't be an isolated problem...
