Yesterday i was listening to music on my phone when the music suddenly stopped i went over to see that my phone had shut down. I didn’t think much of it until it wouldn’t turn back on. Is there anything i can do before having to take it to get fixed?

This could be something as simple as a dead battery, dead screen or as complex as a logic board failure. If you connect your phone to an iTunes enabled computer, does it get recognized by iTunes? If it does, then it could just be a screen issue. If it doesn’t then check to see if the battery is charging properly with a USB Ammeter. You could use this to determine if the phone is really drawing current when it says it's charging. If the battery isn’t charging properly, then it may need a replacement battery.
Finally, if the battery is charging well (it should draw about 1A with the small charging brick), then it may well be a logic board issue.
