A1286 1680x1050 screen in A1226?

I would like to know if an High-Resolution LCD panel from a MacBook PRo early 2011 will work on an old mid-2007 model.

Both have a LED backlight display. It's the first 1680x1050 LED panel I have found in months.

My friend's new MBP has an LG LP154WE3-TLB1 matte screen, it looks awesome and I'd like to really enjoy higher resolution without using an external monitor.

Thanks in advance,

Phil

Phil I doubt that it will work. However many Apple LCDs are LG's it may be possible through cross referencing part numbers to see if it will or if there is another one out there, even of a different brand that will give you the desired results. You have a good start by having their manufacturer's part number. Most importantly you need the manufacture's part number for your particular MBP. If you don't have it you can get it off of the actual lCD. Instructions for your LCD removal are here. I would try googling cross referencing LCDs, you will find a number of sites out there that do that. Also googling the manufacture's part numbers you have etc... add words such as cross reference with the MPN. Perhaps you will get lucky. The pinout on your particular LCD matches the pinout of your video cable. If you can't find another lCD with the same pinout assignment and socket size you won't be able to do it. I would say the pinout assignment for your LCD would be in the data sheet for it. You should be able to find that on the WEB.

Your best and most economical solution is going to be to sell your MBP and buy the newer model with the screen you want. When you take the price of the newer MBP and subtract from it the value of your MBP and the cost of the new LCD (if you find one). Remember to include the 5 - 15+ hours of your time you will spend trying to find a replacement LCD and your time for uninstalling and installing LCDs into the cost of the new LCD.

Thank you for your answer ABCellars.

The current panel in my A1226 is a LG LP154WP2-TLA1. Here's the datasheet that I've found for both panel:

The LVDS connectors are different part numbers and different in other ways. Pins on these 2 are basically the opposite of each other, on 1 of them pin 1 is to the left on the other it is on the right. Besides that pin 5 on yours is a NC (no connect), on the other pin 5 is a Power supply Vcc 3.3 volts. You could build a custom LVDS cable if these were the only differences. The big red light comes from the signal input timing. There is no way to make this work with the video components on your motherboard.

All right, thanks a lot for the info ABCellars, I'll have to wait that my A1226 dies, since I do not like the unibodies, there's no hurry for me.
