MBP 15" Unibody wont boot, powers off before start up sequence.
My MBP 15" Unibody from okt 2008 started acting up again.
I press the power button, the power light lights up for 3 seconds and the optical drive makes it's typical startup noise... But after 3 seconds it just quits, completely powers off.
After maybe 7 seconds the power turns on again, the Power light turns on but nothing more happens. I have to force quit by holding the power button for a couple of seconds to turn it off.
No software has a chance to execute, I can't do any commands nor does the screen light up at all. This happens all before the apple chime.
I've taken the battery out (full charge) and unplugged it, exchanged it for a new spare one, pmu reset, exchanged the hard drive, tested the existing hard drive on another mac without any problems, tested the ram modules (out completely, and single ones mounted.)...
Is it a logical board issue or what can it be? Why does this happen again? (see below)
Prior issues has been a faulty super drive exchanged in mid 2009 within warranty. Then an issue with a swollen battery where they exchanged the hard drive, the hdd cables, the super drive, and the logic board even if the warranty had run out.

+ excellently stated question. Please recheck the last three letters of your serial number as IGA gives no results. Are you getting color an your magsafe?

When the computer turns on again (after 7 seconds, you said) will it stay on until you have to force it to turn off by holding the power button?

On a separate note, you may be able to get Apple to help you out even though it's out of the Apple Care period. It's worth a shot if you live near an Apple Store, especially if it is an issue with your logic board.

##1.
Thanks. The avant garde typeface is no good to use when mixing numbers and letters.. It should read: Z1GA.
## 2. Yes or til the battery runs out if not hocked upp with a magsafe. The second "start up" does not seem to power up the super drive or hd (at least I cant hear any sounds..)
Btw the battery recharges as usual despite no boot up.
##3. I bought it online at Apple Store, and I actually written the person that exchanged all the parts the last time it broke down. He was the one that could approve such a of warranty repair.
