Well, I can provide you with the most complicated answer but it’s the only way I know of.

You will need a working computer to erase and reformat your Hard Drive/Solid State Drive and also a SATA to USB-A cable handy too.

  1. Remove the Hard Drive/ Solid State Drive. There are plenty of guides out there on the web just search up “(insert your computer’s make and model here) hard drive replacement’ on a search engine.
  2. Plug the SATA port end of the SATA to USB-A into the HDD/SSD and the USB-A port end into your PC or Mac.
  3. Depending on which type of computer you are using to erase/reformat your HDD/SSD you will choose your type of computer on this site and follow the directions here. It is for flash drives but that really doesn’t matter here, it will work for your HDD/SSD. Make sure to format your HDD/SSD as NTFS!
  4. Plug your HDD/SSD back into your PC, it should be clean and empty with no OS.

Your PC should be factory reset now. You can install Windows back onto your PC with the Windows Media Creation Tool. You will need a Flash Drive over 16 GB in size to use this tool, though.

well you see thats kind of the problem i already tried that but from what i could see the solid state drive is implanted in to the mother board and even more depressing for is the fact i cant even install a new hard drive either but thank you for your input but what i did was very simple but cost me data lost so i dont suggest it inless if something happend in the settings is to just by a window disk that matchs you laptop if it has a cd/dvd rom drive if not use a desktop if avalable copy the data from the disk to a flash usb drive and so on and so fourth but agine thanks i plan on buying a new laptop so if i run into the same problem i try what you said first.

Hi Jesse,

Could you please post what type of computer you have? Aaron’s answer is not technically wrong, but many manufacturer’s offer a built in way to reinstall the operating system and reset to factory settings without additional tools needed. Backing up your data is a great first step.
