Is the gps antenna my problem?

I am using an iphone 3gs 4.2.1 firmware 5.15.04 baseband. My gps doesn't find my location, it usually finds me about a 1/2 mile from my current location. My compass works fine and the gps works when I am on wifi so I am assuming it is a gps antenna problem. If I am correct is that the only thing I need to replace/check or are there other issues? I appolize if there is an answer already on here but i've searched to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

is your phone jailbroken? there are some issues with a jb on 6.15.00 but I don't know of any on this one. you could try resetting network settings under settings/general-reset.

It is jailbroken. It just started happening one day after I was on 3.1.3 firmware for like 8 months. I tried resetting everything, resetting network settings, back to factory settings, put apples 4.2 firmware and then a jailbroken 4.2.1 and nothing worked. I think the only option left is the gps antenna, unless I'm missing something.

have you checked connector 6 (or it could be 5 i get them mixed up every time!) it's the single round pin connector. check it is on properly on the motherboard..sometimes after a drop it comes off partially.
