Large number of this model no longer turn on

With semester starting up I have had about ten of this model come into university service center with same issue:  Does not turn on!

Reset SMC, tried power on pads with keyboard as well as with the airport card, SSD module, LCD disconnected - still no help.

When under warranty I ordered replacement logic board and left I/O board which had fixed the unit in the past.

Now many are off warranty. Why are so many of these models failing?  Anyone else seeing a large number of this model with same issue?

Being in a university environment I’m sure these systems batteries are well used and given the age I think your issue is likely battery.

I would order a replacement battery for testing using a good known system disconnect its internal battery and plug in your test battery to charge it up. Then do the reverse with your dead systems using this battery. Are you able to get them to boot up?
