Can I use one speaker on my MacBook Pro 13" Mid 2010?

So, I broke the subwoofer socket on my MacBook pro mid 2010 13 inch, while I was trying to take it apart to change the thermal paste. I was wondering If I could set it up so that the sound just comes from the left speaker. When I boot it up, I hear no sound; are the speakers both connected to one socket, and if so am I screwed? I also would like to know if it is possible for it to be re-soldered back on. I’ve included a picture. Please tell me it isn’t hopeless, I’d like to at least have sound coming out of one speaker. Thanks.

The logic board pads appear to still be present, so I would say you have a chance to re-solder the connector down if the connector is in good shape. Can you show us the back side of the connector (solder side).

As for soldering you’ll want to protect the area around the connector so you don’t heat the other parts.

You might want to find someone with good soldering skills to do it for you. As you’ll only get one chance here to do it right.

Thank you. What places do you think I could get it repaired and how much do you think it would cost?

It's incredibly difficult to solder and I think you would need something like a spot welder but made for delicate electronics. It's really easy to break this flimsy drum. I'm getting by with a speaker plugged into the rca jack and the program Boom 3D. I have to mess with it way too often and at some point one of my internal speakers started to play sound but it sounded horrible and tinny.

Toro, If you are thinking of soiling the fragile diaphragm coil wires within the speaker that would be hard!

Here we are soldering the pads on the logic board which is how the speaker connector is mounted so the speaker cable assembly is connected.
